Romania's former President Traian Basescu says there is much about media reports about the US allegedly starting to move to Romania its nuclear weapons stationed in Turkey that makes them not credible.
"You cannot move nuclear warheads like you do potatoes, like they decide today and tomorrow it is ready, they are moved to another place. Secondly, such a move would entail negotiations between the owner of the nuclear warheads and the host country that would take years to conduct, because once stored on the soil of a country, the risks for the host country get huge. There is much about the reports that make them not credible," Basescu told Realitatea Tv private broadcaster on Thursday.EurActiv.com on Thursday reported that two independent sources told it that the US has started transferring nuclear weapons stationed in Turkey to Romania, against the background of worsening relations between Washington and Ankara. Romania's Foreign Ministry has firmly denied the report. AGERPRES
