The Government has allocated RON1.9 billion for healthcare projects, including the construction of three large healthcare hubs, Health Minister Alexandru Rafila informed on Thursday at the Government House.
Most of the funds, RON 930 million, are intended for emergency medicine, said Rafila, who added that the Ministry of Health fully finances the activity at the level of emergency reception offices and departments and also at county ambulance stations.
"To the Ministry of Health and the healthcare system in Romania, extremely important news is the allocation of RON1.9 billion to the budget of the Ministry of Health. One of the destinations of this amount: RON 125 million - supplements the budget for World Bank projects, namely the construction of the three hubs for the severely burned in Târgu Mure, Timisoara and Bucharest. There are many other amounts allocated for the priority actions of the Ministry of Health, namely intensive care, myocardial infarction, stroke, trauma, neonatology and post-stroke recovery, and we are talking about RON 210 million," Rafila told a news conference.
According to him, RON 200 million are allocated for the continuation of activities under national healthcare programmes. "I mean here in particular the purchase of vaccines under the national vaccination programme for the treatment of HIV-AIDS patients and also for the transfusion safety part. The budget earmarked for all these activities was not enough and it is a very good thing that the government allocated this amount that makes these programmes work."
