High heat, thermal discomfort to grip southern, southeastern Romania, including Bucharest, through Sunday

Romania's southern and southeastern parts will be under a heatwave and high thermal discomfort warning from Thursday to Sunday, according to the National Weather Administration (ANM), told Agerpres.

Thus, between August 17 and August 20, 2023, there will be high heat and thermal discomfort, with the temperature-humidity index reaching and exceeding critical 80 in the southern and southeastern parts of the country, where highs of 35 - 36 degrees Celsius up to 37 degrees Celsius are expected.

Thermal discomfort will also be high in the western and eastern parts, where highs will be between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists have announced hot weather in Bucharest as well in the coming days, with highs reaching 37 degrees Celsius.

According to ANM, between August 17, 12:00hrs and August 20, 21:00hrs, the weather will be extremely hot in Bucharest City and thermal discomfort will be high, with the temperature-humidity index easily exceeding critical 80. Weak to moderate winds slighltly picking up on July 17.

Highs between 35 - 37 degrees Clesius, and lows between 18 - 21 degrees Celsius.
