British-American influencer Andrew Tate appeared at the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) on Wednesday morning, as prosecutors continue to investigate him for several offences, including forming an organised criminal group, human trafficking and rape.
The influencer was also summoned to DIICOT at the end of May, when he was informed that he was being investigated for an additional offence of incitement to hatred or discrimination, in connection with statements and content promoted on social media that allegedly encouraged hatred and discrimination against women.
Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold dual British and American citizenship, were indicted by DIICOT on June 20, 2023 on charges including forming an organised criminal group, human trafficking, rape, unlawful access to a computer system, and assault or other acts of violence.
Subsequently, in December 2024, the courts annulled the prosecutors' indictment, and the case was returned to DIICOT for the criminal investigation to be reopened and revised.
Prosecutors are currently re-examining the case file, and judicial sources have confirmed that the Tate brothers are expected to face additional charges.
Andrew Tate is a well-known influencer with millions of followers on the X platform, where he promotes men's rights. An outspoken supporter of Donald Trump and a former professional kick-boxer, Tate was born in the United States and has lived in Romania for several years. He first gained public attention during his appearance on the television programme Big Brother UK in 2016.
