AUR voters, men, and young people under 30 declare to a greater extent than the rest of the population that they have recently participated in political actions on the Internet, reveals the research conducted in partnership with Babes-Bolyai University, through the Center for Research in Communication and Social Innovation.
When asked if they have forwarded political campaign messages via email or social media, 8.9% answered yes, and 90.7% answered no. The non-response rate is 0.3%.
USR and AUR voters, men, young people under 30 and people with higher education declare to a greater extent than the rest of the population that they have forwarded political campaign messages via email or social networks, according to the survey.
"Researching political participation in the online environment represents an approach that allows for a better understanding of how digital technologies contribute to the functioning of participatory democratic systems. Although there are a number of important challenges for digital democracy, here we only mention the low level of active participation, we also observe positive aspects that can lead to an increase in civic participation towards the consolidation of democratic processes," stated Ioan Hosu, professor and doctor at the Center for Research and Social Innovation at Babes-Bolyai University.
The sociological research data were collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), the volume of the simple, stratified sample being 1150 people, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over.
The maximum permissible data error is ą 2.9%, at a confidence level of 95%.
