Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Monday, at the inauguration of several projects financed with European funds in Oradea, that "a fundamental element in making projects is cooperation between local and central authorities.."
"It is very important when we discuss such projects to see how they were completed in a relatively short time. And a very important element is cooperation between the Government, government-owned companies, such as CNAIR in this case, and the local authorities. A great deal of time is lost when projects are being prepared, when permits are obtained, when authorisations are secured, and a great deal of time is lost in tendering processes and, unfortunately, in many cases we have missed out on projects. But in this case, it is clear that the formula for delivering quickly is this cooperation and I have always maintained that a fundamental element in delivering projects is cooperation between local and central authorities," Ilie Bolojan said, agerpres reports.
The interim prime minister added that "the efforts that have been made, including to attract European funds during this period, mean the works we see here, they mean motorway infrastructure across the country, such as the one in Moldavia, they mean new hospitals being built, schools, very many schools being renovated (...), the network of nurseries, the thermal insulation of apartment blocks and this means an effort that has been worthwhile."
Ilie Bolojan also said that "if our country, despite all the problems we have, manages to deliver, it is because there are many professionals in the public sector whose contribution makes it possible to implement projects."
Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan attended on Monday the inauguration of two road underpasses - one underground and one overground - and an underground pedestrian underpass, built with a total of 74.5 million lei in European funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), at the entrance to Oradea from Arad, on DN 79.
The works, carried out in partnership by the Bihor County Council, CNAIR and Oradea City Hall, were completed by the Selina - Drum Asfalt consortium. They will help ease traffic in a busy area providing access to shopping centres and Oradea Airport.
With their opening, six of the eight road underpasses built by the Bihor County Council have been opened to traffic.
The underground underpass is 406 metres long and is located at the intersection of the Oradea Ring Road and Calea Aradului, near the Jumbo shop. A pedestrian underpass was also built parallel to the road underpass, beneath the Oradea Ring Road.
Work on this project began in January 2026.
The 535-metre overground underpass crosses the roundabout providing access to ERA Shopping Park, Dedeman and Oradea Shopping Center. Work on it began in September 2025.
Funding was provided through the PNRR, with contract values of 36.89 million lei for the underground and pedestrian underpasses and 37.61 million lei for the overground underpass, including VAT.
