Three-time Grammy Award winning conductor Kent Nagano will open the 2025 - 2026 Symphonic Season of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra with sold-out performances delivered on October 2 and 3. Acclaimed violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann will be the soloist of Beethoven's Concerto in D major for violin and orchestra, in a program that also includes compositions by George Enescu and Igor Stravinsky.

On October 1, from 18:00, Kenty Nagano - who is for the first time in Romania - is set to engage at the Small Hall of the Romanian Athenaeum in a face-to-face dialogue with the audience about leadership, trust, empathy and beauty, inspired by his experience in conducting, the George Enescu Philharmonic said in a release.

The dialogue is part of a new cultural project - Talks re: Music & Beyond, aimed at bringing the audiences closer to the inner universe of musicians, through conversation and reflection, in a way that transcends the sphere of music.

The theme of the first meeting, moderated by strategic communication consultant Oana Marinescu, is Leadership Without Words, and is inspired by Kent Nagano's art of conducting and the lessons his model of working with the orchestra can offer to society: about trust, empathy, common purpose, and how beauty and inspiration can be discovered in the most unexpected places, the cited source specifies.

One of today's most outstanding conductors for both operatic and orchestral repertoire, Kent Nagano will take over from September 2026 as the new chief conductor and artistic director of the National Orchestra and Chorus of Spain (OCNE) in Madrid.

Together with German cellist Jan Vogler, he is committed as artistic director of the Dresdner Musikfestspiele project 'The Wagner Cycles', realized together with the Dresdner Festspielorchester and Concerto Koln.

The Talks re: Music & Beyond project will feature a series of meetings with great guest artists of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, inspired by the theme of the 2025 - 2026 Season "Respiro", which invites the audiences to find through music a moment of respite and authentic presence, a refuge from the contemporary existential noise.
