Leader of the Force of the Right Party Ludovic Orban thanked his supporters who, after his withdrawal from the presidential race, followed his advice to vote for USR's Elena Lasconi, emphasizing that his party's immediate goals are to obtain the best possible score in the upcoming parliamentary election and to support the USR leader in the presidential runoff, informs Agerpres.
"I am happy that the decision to withdraw and support Elena Lasconi played a very important role in achieving the objective of having a democratic center-right candidate in the second presidential round and giving democracy in Romania another chance. I thank all my supporters who followed my call and voted for Elena Lasconi, even if they would have preferred me. I thank all my colleagues in the Right Forces Alliance who engaged with all their energy for our success in achieving the proposed objective," Orban wrote on Facebook on Monday.
He also mentioned that the electoral campaign must be resumed right away, for the best possible result in the parliamentary election.
"Our first objective is that the Force of the Right Party makes it to Parliament with the best possible result. Elena Lasconi will need strong and trusted allies in Parliament to carry out the necessary reforms. The second goal is to mobilize for the campaign in the presidential runoff to make sure that Elena Lasconi is elected President of Romania. Waiting for you to join us!," Orban wrote.
