At the end of June 2025, mandatory private pension funds in Romania held assets worth RON 170.8 billion, marking a 19% increase compared to the same date in 2024, according to data from the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), inform Agerpres.
"Investments by privately managed pension funds were made 93% in Romanian assets, mostly denominated in lei. A large share of these instruments consists of government bonds or shares listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB)," ASF noted.
Contributions collected in June 2025 totaled RON 1.93 billion, with an average contribution of RON 431.
At the end of June, government bonds accounted for the largest portion of assets, worth RON 113.34 billion (66.3%), followed by shares at RON 40.44 billion (23.7%), and corporate bonds at RON 6.83 billion (4%).
ASF reported that the mandatory private pension funds had 8,383,408 participants as of June 2025.
The following pension funds are active in Pillar II: Metropolitan Life, Aripi, AZT Viitorul tau, BCR, BRD, NN, and Vital.
