Romania and Ukraine are strengthening their partnership in the fields of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as the Romanian authorities are considering adopting successful models developed by the Ukrainian side for the digital transformation of public services, interim Minister of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Irineu Darau said on Sunday.
'We are strengthening the digital partnership with Ukraine. We are drawing inspiration from successful digitalisation models. I am highly motivated to rapidly implement good practices in Romania as well. Ukraine is one of the regional leaders in digital transformation and a trusted partner of Romania. During the visit I recently paid to Kyiv, I held an extensive meeting with the team from Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation and representatives of institutions in the field of digitalisation. I was accompanied by Romania's Ambassador to Ukraine, Alexandru Victor Micula, and diplomatic adviser Bogdan Ciprian Pacurari,' the minister wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, the discussions were substantial and results-oriented, covering a series of important joint projects.
Regarding 'AI & the Agentic State', the hosts presented their solutions, including Diia AI and the concept of a national large language model.
'We analysed opportunities for cooperation and the integration of artificial intelligence into public services,' the minister stated.
With regard to cybersecurity and infrastructure, the discussions focused on protection against cyberattacks and the development of cross-border fibre-optic connections, including the Black Sea submarine cable project.
The interim Minister of Economy also referred to GovTech and education. 'We examined initiatives such as GovTechLab and CDTO Campus, which support cooperation between government and tech companies, as well as the training of a new generation of specialists in digital transformation. I thank our Ukrainian partners for the open and constructive dialogue. We inspire and learn from one another in order to strengthen national and European resilience,' the minister added.
