Meteorologists have extended, until 23:00 hrs, the Code Red for blizzard and wind gusts of up to and over 145 km/h issued for the mountain areas of Caras-Severin and Hunedoara.
According to the National Weather Administration, in the areas under warning, at altitudes of over 1,800 meters there will be: strong blizzards, intensification of wind with gusts that will exceed 140-145 km/h, large snowdrifts and visibility reduced to zero.
The immediate dangerous phenomena (nowcasting) warnings are issued for a period of maximum six hours, mentions the National Weather Administration (ANM).
The National Roads Section (SDN) Targu Jiu also announced that due to strong blizzards, National Road 67C was closed until 9:00 AM Tuesday morning, as snow clearing equipment cannot operate due to the weather conditions.
