The hospitals which are no longer included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) are expected to receive funding through the Health Operational Programme, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan informed on Wednesday.

He discussed these matters on Monday with Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Roxana Minzatu, on the occasion of the visits he paid to Brussels.

"We discussed very important aspects related to the future European funding programme, so that we are as well prepared as possible for the negotiations set to begin this autumn and likely to continue until the end of next year, as well as for shifting certain components from the European Social Fund toward financial transfers for healthcare component. I would like to thank Ms Roxana Minzatu for the understanding she has shown," PM Bolojan told a news conference held at the Victoria Palace.

According to the Prime Minister, the list of projects included in the Health Operational Programme is expected to be completed by the end of November.

"Romania will transfer several hundred million euros to the hospital component, so that the hospitals no longer included in the PNRR can still receive funding, supplementing the amount we already have under the Health Programme. And, in this way, by the end of November, we will have the list of these projects included in the Health Operational Programme, and next year, once the amount is transferred, the current funding for the health component will practically be doubled and the hospitals will then have full funding, allowing the works to be completed in the second half of next year," Ilie Bolojan stated.
