Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca discussed, on Thursday, with management authorities and relevant ministries on the topic of absorption of European funds, requesting the simplification of procedures, the reduction of bureaucracy and training courses for employees involved in managing EU money.
"I will not accept not absorbing this money. We will analyze the evolution weekly, in a Government meeting. Each minister will present the stage of fulfilling the absorption targets and will attend all meetings with European officials," said the Prime Minister, according to a release sent by the Government.
The main topics approached during the meeting were the stage of implementation of the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework, the stage of preparation of the 2021-2027 programming period and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
"The Prime Minister emphasized the need to take all the necessary measures to absorb the over 80 billion euro that Romania has available from the three European resources. Priorities in this sense will be the operationalization of the management authority and activating those responsible for the reform in government structures and working mechanisms," the release shows.
Nicolae Ciuca asked for a set of proposals to support beneficiaries and "recover" the absorption rate of funds remaining from the 2014-2020 programming period, as well as the simplification of procedures and reduction of bureaucracy, together with taking over the successful models of other European states.
The working meeting was attended by the Minister for European Investments and Projects, Dan Vilceanu, the Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, Cseke Attila, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Adrian Chesnoiu, state secretaries and general directors/representatives of management authorities.
