Chairman of the People's Movement Party (PMP) Eugen Tomac said on Saturday, at the National Conference of the Right Force party, that "a great injustice" being done to Romanians is the refusal to be accepted into the Schengen area.
"A great injustice that is being done to us, Romanians, is the refusal to be accepted in the Schengen area, in the borderless area of the European Union. We are not fighting with demagoguery, we are fighting with the legal instruments we have at our disposal. That is why we have opened a lawsuit at the Court of Justice of the European Union against the Council of the European Union, where we will condemn Austria for this abuse of rights. We are 20 million Romanian citizens who deserve to enjoy freedom of movement alongside other European citizens. We have another objective in which I believe a lot, just like your Chairman, Mr Orban, and that is the union of the Republic of Moldova with Romania," said Tomac, agerpres reports.
He expressed his belief that the Right will be able to "write history" in the elections next year.
"The Right means respect for the law. The Right does not question our attachment to the European Union. The right does not question our status within NATO. (...) Although it seems impossible, although it seems very difficult, I am convinced that in 2024 we can write history. (...) We have to show the PSD [Social Democratic Party] and the annexes created that Romania cannot remain prey to these miserable games. The prospect of a union of Right-wing forces puts them against the ropes. (...) We must not fight only for our political objectives. Romania should not be reported only to what we have in the country, because we have more than 5 million Romanian citizens in the European Union," said the PMP leader.
During Saturday's meeting of the Right Force party, the party's political strategy for 2024, the main directions of the government programme and the calendar of the party's internal elections will be presented and adopted.
