Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta says in a Facebook post that he will launch his Black Sea Regional Cooperation Projects 2020 think tank around February 20, posting the "official birth certificate" of this association.
Ponta has recently said that his think tank is not meant as a political challenger to the Social Democratic Party (PSD) or any other political party, arguing that the story about PSD leaders allegedly being mad at him for his initiative was just a media fib.
He explained that the Black Sea Regional Cooperation Projects 2020 is designed to support the continuation of regional economic projects in which Romania is also involved, from an NGO perspective.
"Romania used to have two fundamental objectives: the accession to NATO and the EU, and it managed to achieve them. Since then, there seems to be no more projects. Having achieved them is wonderful, they are irreversible, but further on, in 2016, a year with so many challenges and crises, the fact that Romania was not more present in the Black Sea, the Gulf area, did not use its relations and knowledge to come up with economic projects and more than that was a lost opportunity. I now have both the time and necessary knowledge, I also have a capable team from the foundation and about all the projects we know and started over the past four-five years - from the new Silk Road with China, to regional energy projects and economic cooperation projects. We will continue our support for them from this NGO status," said Ponta. AGERPRES
