Prime minister Viorica Dancila on Monday talked at the Victoria Palace with a delegation headed by the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Suma Chakrabarti, about the opportunity of a future cooperation with the EBRD in developing and upgrading the network of hospitals in Romania and the financing of the infrastructure, a release by the gov't reads.
The meeting was also attended by Public Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici and Deputy PM Viorel Stefan.
After an overview of the EBRD's activity in Romania, talks focused on the public private partnership, the internationalisation of the Romanian companies, the EBRD's involvemnt in the structuring and operationalisation of the future Sovereign Fund, as well as the perspectives of establishing a Development Bank.
The Romanian side also expressed its support for the EBRD's involvement in all the initiatives of European interconnection, the ones that make the object of the talks at the Three Seas Initiative Summit ongoing in Bucharest, included.
"We support the EU initiatives in the main case files aiming at the EBRD activity and also from the perspective of Romania's taking over the Presidency of the Council of the EU," Viorica Dancila said.
The Romanian officials also appreciated the EBRD's efforts in the last years for accomplishing the energy interconnections between EU/Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the support granted to the Moldovan financial and banking authorities in restructuring their banking system.
