President Klaus Iohannis will welcome on Monday at the Cotroceni presidential Palace his Croatian counterpart, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who will be visiting Romania 2 into 4 October, at the invitation of her Romanian homologue.

"The visit is following the ascending trend recorded in the recent years by the Romanian-Croatian relationship, including by the official visit to Zagreb, in 2015, paid by President Klaus Iohannis, and in the context of the celebrating this year of 25 years of Romanian-Croatian diplomatic ties," a release on Sunday published on the Presidential Administrations website reads.

The two presidents will address the bilateral relationship's development and deepening, as well as the main topics on the European, regional and security agenda, the release adds.

"The two presidents will open on 3 October the works of the Romanian and Croatian Businesspersons Forum, an occasion to send stimulating messages to the business milieu in the two countries for the further development of the economic bilateral relations, including the mutual investments," says the release.

President Iohannis will also highlight the significance the Croatian minority in Romania and the Romanian minority in Croatia as well have for the bilateral relationship.

"As regards the European agenda, a particular attention will be focused among other things on the aspects linked to the future of the European project and the perspective of exercising, for the first time for both countries, of the Presidency of the Council of the EU, within the same Trio of Presidencies," the release adds.

Moreover, the two presidents will emphasise the importance of cooperation and ensuring security and stability in South-Eastern Europe. Talks will also be focused on the Eastern Neighbourhood problematic.

"In respect to the regional cooperation, the sides will tackle the organisation next year by Romania of the Three Seas' Initiative Summit, an approach wherein both Croatia and Romania have been involved from its very launch in 2015, in New York, followed by the Summit in Dubrovnik in 2016 and the one in Warsaw in July 2017," the communique says.

The two presidents will also address the security problematic, with a stress on the cooperation within the NATO, and the Alliance's role at European and global level, including in preparing the Summit of 2018, the source concludes.
