AGERPRES special correspondent Madalina Cerban reports: President Klaus Iohannis, who is paying a state visit to the Italian Republic, laid a wreath at Altare della Patria (the Altar of the Fatherland) of Rome.
The solemn ceremony in honor of the Romanian head of state included military honors. Furthermore, the Guard of Honor presented arms, while the national anthems of Romania and Italy were performed.
According to the Presidential Administration, this is the first state visit of a Romanian head of state in the last 45 years to Italy.
The agenda also included official meetings with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, head of Italy's Council of Ministers Giuseppe Conte, Senate Chair Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico.
