The Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) candidate in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, says Romania should not send troops to Ukraine.

"Romania should not send troops to Ukraine. Neither soldiers nor peacekeeping troops. I said this three years ago, I haven't changed my opinion at all," Antonescu wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

He emphasized that, if he is Romania's president, no troops will be sent to Ukraine.

"We will continue to support Ukraine logistically and politically. But we will not send troops there," Antonescu added.

The presidential candidate also pointed out that to be able to maintain peace, you must have peace.

"Let us not be hasty, let us not get ahead of ourselves, talking about post-war commitments, when a ceasefire agreement hasn't been even sketched. Wisdom and calm. This is the only way out of this crisis," Antonescu concluded.
