The Social Democratic Party (PSD) is prepared for early elections but also ready to take on the task of governing, PSD's Secretary General Claudiu Manda stated on Friday, asserting that the solution the party is putting forward is a government "for Romanians," with a program built around economic recovery and national development.
"Today, in Sinaia, I held a discussion with social democratic women regarding the issues people face in their communities and what we, as a party, need to do in the coming period. We find ourselves at a difficult and unfair political juncture for Romanians, following nearly five months in which Mr. Bolojan has blocked, one by one, every chance of forming a government that could put Romania back on the right track. And now, we are being offered, as a 'solution', the continuation of the same visionless policies that have deepened economic problems and whose effects people feel every day. Our responsibility toward the people compels us to offer them a real alternative to the policies that brought us to this point, rather than endorsing the continuation of a wrong path," Manda wrote on Facebook.
He added that the PSD is ready for early elections. "I have seen the negotiations for portfolios. I have seen the lists of ministers. Solutions for positions were found quickly. But what about Romania, Mr. Muresan?"
"If the alternative to not supporting the Muresan Government is a vote by the Romanian people, then so be it! We have no reason to fear it. The PSD is prepared for early elections. As I have said, we are also ready to take on the responsibility of governing. The solution the PSD is putting forward is a government for the Romanian people, with a program built around economic recovery and Romania's development," stated Claudiu Manda.
