Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman Liviu Dragnea reiterated on Sunday the idea that PSD and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) must have a sole candidate at next year's presidential elections.
He told private TV broadcaster Antena 3 that he doesn't know who the candidate of this alliance will be, that "no name must be uttered."
"I have said in CEx [the National Executive Committee, e.n.] and I will keep saying it, I am also saying it publicly, my opinion is that we should have a common candidate. I have the experience from USL [Social Liberal Union, e.n.]'s core. I was one of the four who built USL. When USL fell apart, somebody else won. I strongly believe there must be a common PSD-ALDE candidate, following that when we decide to make the announcements, we establish who has the greatest chance on behalf of these two. No name must be uttered now for a very simple reason: very well made analyses must be carried out," Liviu Dragnea affirmed.
The PSD leader voiced the conviction that the current president, Klaus Iohannis, will not obtain a second mandate in 2019.
"What I am absolutely convinced about is that Iohannis will no longer be Romania's president as of 2019. He hasn't done anything, man!" Dragnea underscored.
