Retail trade business increased by 0.4% in the first 11 months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, as a gross series, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to official statistics, during the period January 1 - November 30, 2025, within the margin of the increase in the volume of turnover in retail trade (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), as a gross series, positive figures were reported in the sales of non-food products (+2.4%) and in the retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+1.3%). On the other hand, sales of food products, beverages and tobacco decreased by 2.6%, year-on-year.
Also, retail trade turnover, as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, registered an overall increase of 1% in the first 11 months of 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year, due to sales of non-food products (+3.5%) and retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+2.9%). In contrast, sales of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 2.1%.
In November 2025 compared to November 2024, retail trade business (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) decreased by 4.8%, as a gross series, due to negative results in retail trade of motor vehicle fuels in specialized stores (-5.3%), sales of food, beverages and tobacco (-5.1%) and sales of non-food products (-4.4%).
At the same time, as an adjusted series, the turnover volume in the same field decreased by 4%, due to sales of food, beverages and tobacco (-5.1%) and sales of non-food products (-3.3%). On the other hand, retail trade of automotive fuels in specialized stores increased by 2.3%.
Compared to October 2025, in November 2025, retail trade (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) recorded a 2.5% increase in turnover, as a gross series, and 0.1%, as an adjusted series.
