The traditional Palm Sunday procession organized by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucharest will take place downtown on Sunday, with the participation of believers, consecrated persons and priests from Roman Catholic parishes in Bucharest and the surrounding area.

The procession, which marks the feast of Palm Sunday in the Latin-rite Catholic Church, will begin at 2:45 p.m. in Blessed Vladimir Ghika Square, next to the French Church (Sacre Coeur - Sacred Heart of Jesus). The event will open with the traditional blessing of the branches, after which participants will set off toward St. Joseph's Cathedral, following the route: Blessed Vladimir Ghika Square - Cpt. Demetriade Street - Aviatorilor Blvd. - Victoriei Square - Victoriei Avenue - General Berthelot Street - St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Archdiocese said in a release.

Upon arrival at the Cathedral, around 4:00 p.m., the Holy Mass will be celebrated, presided over by His Eminence Aurel Perca, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest.

Palm Sunday commemorates the solemn entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and opens Holy Week, the period recalling the Passion of Christ and culminating in the Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord.

The procession and the Holy Mass will be broadcast live by the Catholic television station Angelus TV.
