The National Research Authority - Romania, together with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), is organising the Enhanced Dialogue on Tuesday, an event dedicated to the current state of Romania's research and innovation system and public policy priorities for the period ahead.

The programme begins in Magurele with visits to the Magurele Atmosphere and Radiation Site (MARS) research infrastructure, part of the pan-European ACTRIS-RO infrastructure, and the Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP), the nuclear physics pillar of the European ELI infrastructure.

The central part of the dialogue is taking place at the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest and focuses on accelerating innovation and increasing Romania's and Europe's competitiveness, from high-risk research through to the commercialisation of results and the development of companies.

'The first working session addresses accelerating innovation and increasing Romania's and Europe's competitiveness, from high-risk research through to commercialisation, company development and bringing technologies to market,' the National Research Authority said in a post on Facebook.

The second part of the day is dedicated to research and innovation reforms and the implementation of the European Research Area (#ERA), as well as prospects for the next European funding cycle.

Discussions will also cover the future of the FP10 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, the European Competitiveness Fund (ECF) and how national investments and reforms can be aligned with the new European instruments.

'The discussions will also examine developments resulting from the support provided to Romania through the Policy Support Facility, as well as the experience of reforms and investments supported through the Recovery and Resilience Facility, at a time when the next stage of European research and innovation policy is taking shape. The Enhanced Dialogue therefore provides a working framework between Romania and the European Commission on decisions that will influence research and innovation in the years ahead: how reforms are designed, how investments are directed, how national instruments are connected to European ones, and how Romania's participation in the future European Research Area can be strengthened,' the same source said.

The programme concludes at POLITEHNICA Bucharest with visits to CAMPUS - Center for Advanced Research on Innovative Materials, Products, and Processes and the simulator for the NuScale Small Modular Reactor (SMR).
