All 32 milestones and targets undertaken by Romania's Economy Ministry for projects implemented under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) have been met, securing more than 907 million euros, Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Minister Irineu Darau said on Friday.
According to the minister, the milestones and targets covered digitalisation, support for the private sector and tourism.
"From the first day of my term, I made the NRRP a priority. There was no longer any room for delays or hesitation. At the eleventh hour, the NRRP needed only speed and targets to be met. Today, at the Economy Ministry, we can say clearly: we delivered," Darau wrote on Facebook.
He said the ministry had not agreed to abandon any of the investments it had undertaken despite pressure to do so and that, following the latest negotiations with the European Commission, none had been removed.
"The final result? Thirty-two milestones and targets covering digitalisation, support for the private sector and tourism. More than 907 million euros secured. This means completed projects, investments unlocked and European funds that did not remain merely on paper but reached the real economy," Darau said.
The minister said the results involved sustained coordination with other state institutions, project beneficiaries and those involved in unblocking and implementing the investments.
He pointed to measures including the automation of administrative processes, connecting villages to high-speed internet and developing digital skills among employees of small and medium-sized enterprises.
"We did not set out merely to formally tick off milestones, but to complete the investments. We promised to accelerate. We worked intensively. We delivered everything," Darau said.
The minister added that he would present the results of each NRRP project implemented in the ministry's areas of responsibility in the coming days.
