Romania needs a government, and the formula of a technocratic executive does not necessarily represent the best solution for the country, declared on Thursday the interim Minister of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity, Dragos Pislaru.

"I believe that Romania needs a government. My opinion regarding the technocratic government is not a secret. Going through such an experience in 2016, I believe that it is not necessarily the best solution for Romania," said Pislaru, according to Digi24, agerpres reports.

He added that he considers Eugen Tomac a professional and responsible person, who assumes a possible mission of forming a government out of the need to ensure the functioning of the executive.

"I believe that he is a professional, responsible person who somehow assumes this mandate not out of the desire to be your prime minister, but because we need to have a government," the minister said.

Pislaru stressed, however, that it will be important to see what the structure of the future Government will be and what political support it will have.

According to the minister, any decision regarding the continuation of his activity at the governmental level will depend on the position of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the discussions he will have with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

"Any decision of mine regarding the continuation of his activity in this governmental area will be strictly after I see the position of the National Liberal Party towards this government and especially in the consultation that I will have with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan," he declared.

The interim Minister of Labor also stated that a government should have one minister for each portfolio and described his current activity, in which he simultaneously manages several responsibilities, as extremely difficult.

"Basically, I am trying to manage a very complicated project, in parallel with a rather frenetic activity that I have in the area of NRRP and European funds," said Pislaru.

He reiterated that he would not accept a possible continuation in office without the explicit support of the PNL and without the support of the prime minister.

"If there is no support from the National Liberal Party for this government, if there is no explicit desire from the prime minister, the president of the National Liberal Party, for me to continue my activity in some way, I will not do it," the minister stated.

Regarding the chances of forming a parliamentary majority for such a government, Dragos Pislaru avoided speculating.

"At this moment I could not speculate. I think that Mr. Tomac is doing something that, under the given conditions, is to be appreciated, that he is assuming such a construction. It is not easy at all", the interim Minister of Labor also said.
