Romanian-Hungarian project "SAFE - Together for a safer area", launched in Oradea

Representatives of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police and partners from the counties of Bihor, Arad and Szeged, Hungary, launched on Tuesday, in Oradea, the Romanian-Hungarian project "SAFE - Together for a safer area", with a total value of 4.3 million euros, financed through the Interreg VI-A Romania - Hungary Program.

According to a release sent by the "Avram Iancu" Border Police Training School (SPAPFAI) Oradea, the SAFE project aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation and support the implementation of sustainable solutions for the development of the region.

The project leader, IGPF, has as partners the Bihor County Police Inspectorate, the "Avram Iancu" Border Police Training School Oradea, the Prefect's Institution - Arad County and the Police Education and Training Center in Szeged, Hungary (ROKK).

The overall objective of the project is to increase the level of safety and security for citizens, residents and tourists in the eligible area, addressing cross-border challenges through improvements in institutional capacities, modernisation of training facilities and strengthening collaboration between law enforcement institutions in Romania and Hungary.

As specific results, this project will set up the Training/Excellence Center within the Dinamo Oradea Sports Center by IPJ Bihor and build the Specific Training Center at the "Avram Iancu" Border Police Agents Training School in Oradea by SPAPFAI, where a real-life scenario simulator will also be purchased for the training activities organized within this institution.

The Prefecture of Arad will equip a public information center on border crossing and migration issues and will hold two workshops to develop a public awareness guide.

The partners from Szeged, Hungary, will purchase training equipment necessary to equip the training center and will participate in the development of the training curriculum, the development of the public awareness guide, training activities carried out within the project.

The project has an implementation period of 36 months, between 23.12.2024 and 22.12.2027 and a total value of 4,375,000.00 euros, of which 2,884,275.58 euros represents 65.93% non-reimbursable external financing (ERDF).
