Romania's annual inflation fell to 8.16% in July, from 10.42% in June, as services prices rose by 13.67%, non-food goods prices by 7.93% and food goods prices by 5.03%, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Wednesday.
"The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2026 compared with June 2026 is 100.58%. The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (July 2026 compared with December 2025) is 4.4%. The annual inflation rate in July 2026 compared with July 2025 is 8.2%. The average rate of change in consumer prices over the last 12 months (August 2025 - July 2026) compared with the previous 12 months (August 2024 - July 2025) is 9.8%," the INS release mentioned.
According to the INS, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices in July 2026 compared with June 2026 was 100.42%.
The HICP-based annual inflation rate in July 2026 compared with July 2025 was 8.2%. The average rate of change in consumer prices over the last 12 months (August 2025 - July 2026) compared with the previous 12 months (August 2024 - July 2025), determined on the basis of the HICP, was 8.8%.
The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has revised upwards its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 to 5.5%, from 3.9% previously, and expects inflation to reach 2.9% at the end of 2027, according to data presented in May by BNR Governor Mugur Isarescu. AGERPRES
