Romanian wrestler Vlad Ioan Trip won the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 55 kg category on Tuesday at the Under-17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, after defeating Belarus' Timofei Semionenko in the bronze-medal bout, informs Agerpres.
On Monday, Trip defeated Germany's Romanian-born Samuel Puscas in the qualifiers and Tajikistan's Umarjon Mukhtorov in the round of 16 before losing his quarter-final to Hungary's Keve Vazul Kovacs. He continued in the repechage on Tuesday, defeating American Corey Allen Brown before the medal match.
In the 60 kg category, Alexandru Ilie Lungu will compete for bronze after defeating Russia's Mikhail Stepanov in the qualifiers, Kyrgyzstan's Ulan Kubanychibekovich Dzhanaliev in the round of 16 and Ukraine's Rahman Hamidov in the quarter-finals before losing his semi-final to Tajikistan's Mahdi Barotov.
Albert Gabriel Deacu was defeated by American Aiden Paul Arnett in the round of 32 of the 71 kg category.
In the 92 kg category, Ionut Erick Patru defeated Israel's Sagi Yaakov Mirel in the qualifiers before losing to Serbia's Todor Aksentijevic in the round of 16.
