The FONTANA spa&balneo centre in Borsec, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country, was officially inaugurated on Thursday, in the presence of local and county authorities, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism and the Ministry of Health.

At the opening event, the mayor of the resort, Mik Jozsef, said that after 12 years of waiting one of the most important moments in the recent history of Borsec has arrived, which will lead to the relaunch of tourism in this resort.

Mik Jozsef spoke about the investments made by the town hall, which will lead to the revival of tourism in Borsec, such as the summer ski or bobsled slope, next to the FONTANA centre, which he said is one of the most beautiful in Romania.

The construction of the spa&balneo centre in Borsec began in 2011, with the total investment accounting for 9 million euros.

The centre includes a spa centre and treatment base, which covers an area of 2,900 square metres and has a capacity of 1,000 people per day in the summer season and 700 people in winter, with the local authorities maintaining that this is the largest of this kind in Romania, told Agerpres.

It will offer, in the spa area, indoor and outdoor pools, Finnish sauna, infra-sauna and steam sauna, and in the balneo area there will be various treatment options available, such as mud wraps, massages or hot and cold mineral water therapy.

According to local authorities, the FONTANA concept is based on two levers, namely the Fontana Well (spa and primary prevention) and Fontana Health (secondary prevention and recovery, which involves medical consultation).

Guests are promised a unique experience in Romania with therapies based on plants and alpine herbs, in full harmony with the surrounding nature.

The price of the entrance tickets will be between 50 and 100 lei, depending on the time spent in the centre, with children paying less. Children up to six years of age will not be charged.
