PNL deputy Gigel Stirbu declared on Wednesday that PSD imitates democracy and the "so-called internal referendum" is a "smokescreen", an "attempt to legitimize the fear of reform".
"The wave is coming!!!!!! PSD imitates internal democracy to hide a simple reality: it is not about principles, about governance or about the "will of the members". It is just a political decision, cold and cynical, taken by a party that feels it is losing ground and is desperately trying to preserve its privileges. The so-called "internal referendum" regarding the support of the Government led by Ilie Bolojan is nothing more than a smokescreen. An attempt to legitimize an increasingly obvious fear: the fear of reform," Stirbu wrote on Facebook.
He mentioned that, for years, PSD "has built and maintained a budget-hungry state, suffocated by self-interest, useless institutions and an oversized administration, meant not to serve the citizen, but the party clientele."
"Today, when there is talk of cuts, efficiency and responsibility, the PSD panics. Because each reform means fewer positions to distribute, fewer resources to control, less electoral power. And what we see now is just the agony of a system that refuses to change. They have nowhere to run. Because Romanians are starting to see beyond slogans. They see the difference between reform and preserving privileges. They see who wants a lean and efficient state and who wants a fat, inefficient and politically controllable state," the liberal deputy also wrote.
Stirbu claimed that PSD does not have a problem with the Government, but with change.
"And at the moment when reform becomes inevitable, PSD becomes irrelevant. And that's exactly what they are trying to avoid now, through a "referendum" that decides nothing, but says everything about their fear of the future," the PNL deputy pointed out.
