Strong winds sweep across over half the country until Friday evening

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued two Code Yellow warnings for wind intensification across several counties in the north, west and centre of the country, valid until Friday evening.

According to meteorologists, from 9pm on 23 October to 10am on 24 October, a Code Yellow warning is in effect for Banat and Crisana regions, where winds will reach temporary speeds of 50 to 70 km/h. In the Western Carpathians and most of the Southern Carpathians, wind speeds will intensify to 70 to 90 km/h, with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h at altitudes above 1,700 metres.

Moreover, on Friday, between 10am and 9pm, temporary wind intensifications of 50 to 70 km/h are expected in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, and the west and south of Oltenia. In mountainous areas, winds will strengthen to speeds of 70 to 90 km/h, with gusts reaching 90 to 120 km/h above 1,700 metres.

Meteorologists also note that wind intensifications of 40 to 50 km/h will also occur across the rest of the country.
