Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse was eliminated on Monday in the inaugural round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, losing to American Madison Keys, who won in three sets, 6-7 (4/7), 7-5, 7-5.
Gabriela Ruse (27 years old, no 58 WTA) lost after about two hours and 40 minutes of play versus Madison Keys (30 years old, no 8 WTA, seed no. 6), in a match played at over 30 degrees Celsius.
Gabriela Ruse, who has never advanced past the first round at Wimbledon, lost this month in the final of the WTA 250 grass-court tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands).
Romanian Anca Todoni (20 years old, no. 90 WTA) was eliminated on Monday in the first round of the Wimbledon tournament, being defeated in two symmetrical sets, 6-4, 6-4, by Spain's Cristina Bucsa (27 years old, no. 101 WTA).
