Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse qualified, together with Belgian Magali Kempen, in the doubles quarterfinals of the WTA 250 grass tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands), with a total prize pool of 239,212 euros, on Wednesday, after a 6-4, 6-1 victory over the pair Anastasia Detiuc (Czech Republic)/Bibiane Schoofs (the Netherlands).
Ruse and her partner achieved the victory in 62 minutes.
The Romanian-Belgian pair secured a cheque for 2,210 euros and 54 WTA points in doubles, and in the quarterfinals they will face the number four seeds, Eri Hozumi (Japan)/Aldila Sutjiadi (Indonesia).
Gabriela Ruse also qualified for the round of 16 of the singles event on Wednesday, after defeating Dutchwoman Isis Louise van den Broek, 6-2, 6-1.
Ruse (27 years old, no. 80 WTA), who came from the qualifiers, won in just 61 minutes, against an opponent who also came from the preliminary draw (19 years old, no. 704 WTA).
Gabriela Ruse secured a cheque for 3,624 euros and 48 WTA points, and in the second round she will meet Canadian player Carson Branstine, who surprisingly defeated Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the main seed and defending champion, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1, in a match interrupted on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday.
