In a recent episode of the show “Altceva cu Adrian Artene”, Dr. Mircea Beuran shared insights into the medical behavior of former Romanian President Ion Iliescu, describing him as a “model patient.” According to Beuran, Iliescu strictly followed medical advice and maintained a disciplined relationship with his healthcare team.
“He was an exemplary patient. He didn’t question treatments, didn’t ask unnecessary questions, and understood perfectly what needed to be done. He had a balanced relationship with the doctors, and the respect was mutual,” said Beuran.
The doctor added that despite his advanced age and serious diagnosis, Iliescu remained lucid and dignified until the end. He was fully aware of the severity of his condition.
Final Days
Ion Iliescu passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95. He had been suffering from lung cancer and had been hospitalized for nearly two months at the “Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu” Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, where he had requested to be admitted.
Dr. Beuran emphasized that Iliescu’s mental clarity and composure were remarkable, even as his health deteriorated.
