The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ciprian Serban, met on Wednesday with a South Korean delegation of the Hyundai Rotem company, led by General Manager Yong Bae Lee, with whom he discussed the Dacia project, a broad proposal that aims to localize rolling stock production in Romania, develop hydrogen trains, define the stages for a future high-speed railway and use solid financing mechanisms through export credit.
"Such a collaboration model can bring important benefits to Romania: the development of a competitive railway industry, 'Made in Romania', through local facilities, technological transfer and modern supply chains; the creation of sustainable jobs and the training of a highly qualified technical workforce; the acceleration of the transition to clean transport through hydrogen-based solutions; the positioning of Romania as a European hub for railway production and innovation, with export potential; the consolidation of long-term industrial autonomy, through well-structured public-private partnerships. We remain consistent in the modernization and development of railway infrastructure and the consolidation of national rolling stock production," the minister said on his Facebook page.
