The turnover in market services provided to the population fell by 1.2% in unadjusted terms in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year, with the same trend also recorded in workday and seasonally adjusted terms (-1.7%), according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to official statistics, between January 1 and April 30, 2025, the decline in turnover from services provided to the population, as unadjusted series, was due to the results of the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-15.3%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-10%).
On the other hand, increases were recorded in hairdressing and other beauty activities (+22%), washing and cleaning (dry cleaning) of textiles and fur products (+7.7%), and hotel and restaurant activities (+0.9%).
As workday and seasonally adjusted series, turnover from market services provided to the population decreased by 1.7% year-on-year.
According to the cited source, market services provided to the population, as unadjusted series, recorded a 2.3% increase in turnover in April 2025 compared to the same month last year, due to rises in hairdressing and other beauty services (+14.6%), hotel and restaurant activities (+3.7%), and washing and cleaning (dry cleaning) of textiles and fur products (+2.4%). Decreases were recorded in: travel agency and tour operator activities (-8.9%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-2.5%).
At the same time, market services provided to the population, adjusted series, increased by 1.2% in April 2025 compared to April 2024.
As regards market services provided to the population, in April 2025, compared to the previous month, the volume of turnover increased by 0.9%, due to increases in hotel and restaurant activities (+1.8%) and travel agency and tour operator activities (+1.4%).
On the other hand, decreases were recorded in: washing and cleaning (dry cleaning) of textiles and fur products (-4.0%), hairdressing and other beauty activities (-3.1%) and gambling and other recreational activities (-2%).
At the same time, the turnover from market services provided to the population, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, went up by 1.6% in April 2025 compared to the previous month.
