Unemployment rate in Romania shoots to 3.19pct in July 2025

Romania's national unemployment rate was standing at 3.19% at the end of July 2025, up 0.03% month-on-month, with the total number of the unemployed reaching 254,464 , the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) reported on Thursday, agerpres reports.

Of the total registered unemployed, 51,402 were drawing unemployment benefits and 203,062 were not. The number of the unemployed drawing benefits increased by 869, and the number of unemployed persons not drawing benefits increased by 1,449 month-on-month.

By means of residence, the number of unemployed at the end of July is as follows: 66,758 unemployed people were from urban areas and 187,706 from rural areas.

The number of female unemployed as of July 31, 2025 was standing at 119,236, while the number of male unemployed was standing at 135,228.

Most of the unemployed were between 40 and 49 years old (63,579), followed by those over 55 years old (61,938), at the opposite pole were people between 25 and 29 years old (14,077).

Regarding the structure of unemployment by education attainment, the unemployed without formal education and primary education graduates held a significant share in the total number of the unemployed reported by ANOFM (31.39%). Unemployed secondary school graduates made up 34.17% of the total reported, and university graduates 4.45%.
