Voluntary pension funds record 19pct increase in February

The voluntary pension funds had assets worth 5.81 billion lei at the end of February 2025, an increase of 19% compared to the level recorded on the same date in the previous year, according to a report from the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).

"Most investments were made locally (96%), with the majority being denominated in lei (89%)," the report reads.

The value of contributions paid in February was 69.6 million lei, with the average contribution being 165 lei.

Government bonds held the largest share of assets, amounting to 3.83 billion lei, or 66.1%. Stocks were in second place, with 1.46 billion lei (25.2%). Corporate bonds ranked third in this regard, with 214.75 million lei, or 3.7% of total assets.

The following pension funds are active within Pillar III: Aegon Esential, Azt Moderato, Azt Vivace, BCR Plus, BRD Medio, Generali Stabil, NN Activ, NN Optim, Pensia Mea, and Raiffeisen Acumulare.
