Daraban and Gebauer addressed the effectiveness of the German chamber system in terms of creating business opportunities for entrepreneurs from this country, as well as the need to implement a similar system in Romania.

"Perhaps less known is the role that the chamber system in this country has in this equation, the chamber system supported and encouraged by the German state. Unfortunately, this does not happen in Romania, our chamber system being probably the most underfunded in Europe, and the result is reflected in the huge trade deficit registered at the end of the year. I take this opportunity to ask HE Mr. Peer Gebauer for help in promoting among the authorities in Romania, the way it works, as well as the advantages of a chamber system validated by a very well-defined law, like the German one. If we want an economically strong Romania, we certainly need a chamber system like Germany's, with authorities to really support it, as well as with true professionals representatives of economic diplomacy," the CCIR head stressed.

In his turn, ambassador Peer Gebauer emphasized that Romania and Germany have a very close collaboration not only on the economic level, but also on the social level.

Thus, commercial exchanges entered an upward trend, at the end of last year their total value reaching 35.1 billion euros, and in the middle of this year amounting to 23.3 billion euros. From the point of view of direct German investments in Romania, at the end of 2021 they reached 12 .55 billion euros. The figures look good, but that does not mean that we have to stop here, economic relations must develop at the same sustained pace in the future," the German diplomat concluded
