52 COVID-19 Omicron cases reported in Romania, Oct 16 - 22

As many as 52 cases of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron were confirmed in Romania in the week of October 16 - 22, the National Public Health Institute (INSP) informed on Tuesday.

According to the cited source, as many as 206 infections with the BA.2.75 Covid subvariant have been confirmed so far, as well as 567 cases of BQ.1 infection, 406 cases of XBB Covid infection, 484 cases of the XBB.1.5, and 90 of the XBB.1.5+F456L Omicron subvariant.

As of October 22, 9,994 cases of Omicron infection had been confirmed in Romania. Of these, the BA.2 subvariant was detected in 3,073 cases (31 pct), the BA.4 subvariant was found in 62 cases (0.62 pct), and the BA.5 subvariant was detected in 3,481 cases (35 pct) .

According to INSP, 20,683 sequences were reported until October 22.
