Over 223,000 voters went to the polls in the diaspora, by Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. (Romanian time), to vote in the first round of the presidential elections, according to data provided in real time by the Permanent Electoral Authority, Agerpres reports.
According to AEP, from the opening of the polls, respectively from Thursday evening, 10:00 PM Romanian time (7:00 AM local time) and until Saturday, at 3:00 PM, 223,320 Romanian citizens went to the polls.
Also, 4,106 voters voted by correspondence, the total number of votes cast abroad currently being 227,426.
The most Romanian voters voted in Italy - 36,251, Germany - 35,510, Great Britain - 33,252, Spain - 29,090, the Republic of Moldova - 24,799, France - 10,642 Romanian citizens.

Voting in the diaspora for the presidential takes place over three days, from Friday to Sunday:
* Friday, May 2, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time);
* Saturday, May 3, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time);
* Sunday, May 4, between 7:00 (local time) and 21:00 (Romanian local time).
In the 965 polling stations in the diaspora organized for this year's presidential elections, Romanian citizens who are abroad on election day can vote, regardless of whether or not they have their domicile or residence outside the country.
