Representatives of the Romanian-German business community are calling for measures to improve the Romanian state's financial credibility, cut bureaucracy and modernise public administration in order to strengthen investor confidence and support economic development, according to the conclusions of the General Assembly of members of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania).

Speaking at the meeting, AHK Romania President Volker Raffel said the organisation would work with the future government and support measures aimed at strengthening Romania's creditworthiness.

"Romania's creditworthiness must be improved and this requires not only fiscal measures, but also cutting bureaucracy and modernising public administration. The objective is to strengthen investors' confidence that Romania is a safe location for investment and to limit risks to economic development," Raffel said.

For his part, AHK Romania General Manager Sebastian Metz highlighted the importance of dialogue between the business community and public authorities, as well as cooperation among the organisation's member companies.

During the General Assembly, four new members were elected to the AHK Romania Board of Directors: Robert Feulner, Nick Stirban, Jennifer Gilberg and Marcel Wiesenhoff.

According to the organisation, the Romanian-German business community brings together more than 700 members, while German-owned companies in Romania employ around 240,000 people and operate in more than 150 economic sectors.
