Air border, busiest, in last 24 hours

Approximately 93,000 persons, Romanian and foreign citizens, with over 23,700 means of transportation (including 7,100 trucks) have carried verification formalities through the border crossing points nationwide, in the last 24 hours, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF) informed on Wednesday.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, there were approximately 40,900 people with 10,300 means of transportation at the entry points, while the exit points were reached by 52,100 people with 13,400 means of transportation.

The most crossed borders were:

- Air border - approximately 37,000 people,

- Hungarian border - approximately 25,100 people and 10,600 means of transportation,

- Moldavian border - approximately 14,400 people and 4,600 means of transportation,

- Bulgarian border - approximately 10,000 people and 5,600 means of transportation.

Regarding specific activities, in areas of competence - border crossing points and "green frontier", the border police have identified, in the last 24 hours, 25 illegal actions (12 infractions and 13 misdemeanors) committed by both Romanian and foreign citizens.

Independently, or in collaboration with other institutions, undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into Romania) worth 153,200 RON, which exceeded the customs ceiling or were suspected of being counterfeit, were discovered.

Entry was denied for 12 foreign citizens that did not fulfill the legal criteria, and exit for 4 Romanians, because of various legal reasons.
