A delegation headed by president of the National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) Alexandru Bociu is on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco between October 14 - 18, with the main subject on the agenda being the epidemiological situation caused by the peste des petits ruminants (PPR).
"The mission of the visit is to discuss with Moroccan authorities the epidemiological situation arising from the outbreaks of peste des petits ruminants and decide on the necessary conditions for resuming sheep exports, diversifying existing outbound trade by opening the export of cattle and sheep, cattle and goat carcasses, but also of honey, milk and dairy products," the press release states.
ANSVSA has maintained a constant dialogue with international partners, assuring them that the eradication, prevention and epidemiological control measures set in place will facilitate the safe continuation of trade, thus protecting Romania's economic interests. Communication with the counterparts from partner countries is the guarantee that exports carry on smoothly, the cited document reads.
"The sustained efforts of ANSVSA and government partners underline Romania's commitment to protect animal health and support international trade, while at the same time promoting the development and competitiveness of the Romanian agricultural sector on the global market," the release concludes.
