Strong winds to grip most of Romania throughout Tuesday

The National Weather Administration (ANM) on Monday issued code yellow of strong wind warnings valid until Tuesday evening in most of Romania, in stages.

Thus, on Monday, between 12:00hrs - 21:00hrs, winds are expected to pick up speed in Maramures, Transylvania, most of Moldavia and northern Crisana, where gusts will reach 50 - 70 km/h. In the mountains, the wind speed will reach 70 - 80 km/h and 90 - 100 km/h at elevations of over 1,700 metres.

According to meteorologists, between April 6, 21:00hrs and April 7, 10:00hrs , a second code yellow of strong wind will cover the central part of Romania. In the Southern Carpathians and in the Curvature Carpathians, the wind speeds will intensify to 70 - 80 km/h, while at elevations of over 1,700 metres there will be gusts of 90 - 100 km/h.

Also, on Tuesday, between 10:00hrs- 21:00hrs, the warning will extend to Transylvania, Oltenia, Moldavia and parts of Maramures, the south-west and north-east of Muntenia and northern Dobrogea.

Wind speeds there will be between 50 - 70 km/h, while in the mountains the gusts will reach 70 - 90 km/h, while at elevations in excess of 1,700 metres the speeds shoot up to 100 - 120 km/h.
