The Romanian Teqball Federation announced on Tuesday that, following the Romanian Teqball Series competition in Targu Mures, sportspeople Apor Gyorgydeak, world's number one, and Kinga Barabasi, world's number four, will represent Romania at Vietnam World Teqball Championship.
"The recently concluded national stage of the Romanian Teqball Series competition once again confirmed the value of the best Romanian sportspeople in this sport. Apor Gyorgydeak, world's number one in men's singles, and Barabasi Kinga, ranked fourth in the world in women's singles, have accumulated the necessary points to represent Romania at the World Teqball Championship in Vietnam. They will compete in the following events: Men's Singles: Apor Gyorgydeak, Women's Singles: Barabasi Kinga, Mixed Doubles: Apor Gyorgydeak and Barabasi Kinga", the Romanian Teqball Federation informed in a press release.
According to the Romanian Teqball Federation, at the men's doubles event, there was a major surprise, the pair formed by Arnold Szilagyi and Kristaly Hunor lost the final of this stage.
"Nevertheless, through the points accumulated during this year, the two earned the right to represent Romania at the World Teqball Championship. In the fifth round of the competition, the women's doubles, the results so far indicate the fact that the same pair that represented Romania at the World Teqball Championship in Thailand will also represent our country at the World Championship in Vietnam", the press release states.
In the men's singles final, Gyorgydeak Apor beat Szilagyi Arnold 2-0. In the final for 3rd and 4th place, Mate Zoltan beat Mate Matyas 2-1.
In men's doubles, in the final: Ilyes Szabolcs/Simo Beno - Kristaly Hunor/Szilagyi Arnold 2-0, in the final for 3rd and 4th place: Kis Janos/Szocs Apor - Raul Harsan/Alexandru Costea 2-0.
In women's singles, Kinga Barabasi took first place, and in women's doubles, Miklos Tunde/Lakatos Kriszta.
