The Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca reached, on Thursday, the figure of two million passengers in 2023, being the fifth time in its history that it is at that level.
"The Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, the Cluj County Council and the Ryanair airline celebrated today the 2,000,000th passenger registered in 2023. The event represented a particularly important landmark for the airport and for the region it serves. This year the Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj reaches for the fifth time in its history the threshold of 2 million registered passengers in a calendar year, this celebration thus becoming a symbolic event," it is stated in a press release from the central-western Cluj airport, agerpres reports.
The passenger with the number 2,000,000 registered in the year 2023 was celebrated two months earlier than the previous year and was transported by the air operator Ryanair, on its flight number FR 9547, from Brussels-Charleroi to Cluj-Napoca.
The first time that Cluj International Airport managed to exceed the threshold of 2,000,000 registered passengers in a calendar year was in 2017, and since then, with the exception of the 2020 and 2021 pandemic years, every year there has been this possibility to mark the success and the excellence of airport operations through an anniversary moment celebrated together with the passengers.
The route network of Cluj International Airport currently offers over 45 regular destinations to over 20 countries in Europe and the Middle East, as well as charter flights to the most important tourist destinations of the season.
