The 'Avram Iancu' International Airport in Cluj-Napoca reached, on Wednesday, the figure of two million passengers since the beginning of the current year, an increase compared to the similar period last year.
The director of the Cluj airport, David Ciceo, declared, on the occasion of an anniversary moment, that the traffic target is 10 million passengers by 2045.
"We estimate that in 2045 we will have 10 million passengers. Just as, together with the Cluj County Council, in the period 2006-2008, when the airport had approximately 200,000 passengers, we prepared the infrastructure for 3 million passengers and later we exceeded this threshold, we will now prepare the strategy for 10 million passengers", said David Ciceo.
He also said that the development of Cluj International Airport remains a priority for the Cluj County Council, with 13 new destinations being introduced this year and flight frequencies on several routes being increased, measures that contribute to the consolidation of air traffic.
Cluj Airport recorded a figure of 3,582,000 passengers in 2025, which represented a new historical record.
