Babes Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca to host first international business case study competition

"Babes-Bolyai" University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca will host, between 14-20 September, a first for universities in Romania, namely the first international business case study competition.

"During September 14 - 20, 2025, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration (FSEGA) of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (UBB) is organizing a unique event for the Romanian academic milieu: the first international case study competition in the economic field held in Romania, entitled 'Babes-Bolyai University International Case Competition' (BBU-ICC). 12 student teams of four students each, accompanied by their coordinating professors, coming from prestigious universities with an economic profile from all over the world, representing 10 different countries from 5 continents of the world, will take part in the competition in Cluj," according to a release sent by UBB on Monday.

According to the cited source, during the qualification rounds, the teams will have the mission to develop solutions to two case studies proposed by companies from Romania, thus bringing global perspectives to local economic challenges. The solutions will be presented in front of a jury formed by economists and representatives of the local business milieu, including from the companies that provided the case studies. Based on the results obtained, the best performing teams will qualify for the grand final of the competition, where they will compete for a place on the competition podium.

The 12 universities participating in the first edition of BBU-ICC will be: Georgetown University (USA), HEC Montreal (Canada), IE University (Spain), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), University of Alberta (USA), University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Universidad Panamericana (Mexico), Universidad San Fransisco de Quito (Ecuador), University of Technology Sydney (Australia), University of Vermont (USA) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (China).
